Thailand Emotionally Devastated
At 3:52 a.m., on Thursday October 13, the world's longest reigning monarch passed away. King Bhumibol Adulyadej, after being hospitalized, and in critical condition has passed in a peaceful way. However, the turmoil amongst the country of Thailand, is anything but peaceful.
In his dying hours citizens, crowded around the building he was hospitalized in. The citizens were mostly all adorning the colors pink and yellow, which have significant meaning. Pink is the color that is supposed to restore health, and yellow is the color of the king based on the day in which he was born on. THousands were said to have accumulated there by the end of his last day to pray and sing their national anthem to secure his health. And when the word was spread at 7pm on that night, a tremor of four words rose out into the crowd and was chanted for hours, “Long Live the King.”
King Bhumibol Adulyadej was a very well respected world leader, and his death, shall be mourned for a significant amount of time. The flags shall fly at half mast, and the country shall wear black in remembrance, and when his son takes the throne, the subjects of Thailand, will be proud if he is even half the leader his father was.
